ernesto cruz libroSurrounded by a group of close friends, faculty members, graduates, and students of INCAE, Dr. Ernesto Cruz presented his book INCAE, los años formativos at INCAE's Campus Francisco de Sola in Montefresco. This is the same campus he inaugurated on June 20, 1969, one day before the graduation of INCAE's first class. The event took place at the first INCAE Annual Meeting that brought together several classes of graduates who had a chance to see again their colleagues and professors and to meet Dr. Cruz.

Current INCAE Rector Enrique Bolaños warmly welcomed him celebrating his success and thanking him for the work he did and continues to do for INCAE.

According to Dr. Cruz the book "covers from INCAE's inception in the midst of the integrationist excitement of the mid-20th century to the end of his tenure on December 31, 1980". The entire book is backed by documentary sources available at INCAE's Library. It is a first-person narrative with no analepses, which makes it sound like a chronicle. Its captivating narrative involving historical and anecdotal description both informs and entertains readers.

The 441 page book provides a wealth of detail on Dr. Cruz tenure, from before the idea of what would later become Latin America's leading business school to the birth of INCAE in Nicaragua and the economic, political, and social challenges it faced as a result of Nicaragua's history.

The book describes INCAE's mission in detail and closes by mentioning INCAE's long-time pursuit of objectives such as the smart management of social change, economic development, and regional integration.

Dr. Cruz has remained a key member of INCAE and has seen it grow at each stage since July 1st 1968, when he became INCAE Rector and began to lay INCAE's solid foundations, to this day.

He was guest of honor at the 2012 MBA commencement ceremony at Campus Francisco de Sola. At that time told graduates, "It was here that we began to sow the seeds of a thriving school, which is now a strong organization. I have no doubt that this school will survive".
