INCAE will host the Strategic Management Society Conference to be held for the first time ever in Central America

strategic management society conferenceINCAE Business School will be one of the official sponsors of the Strategic Management Society (SMS) conference, to be held for the first time in Central America on December 14 at Campus Walter Kissling Gam in Costa Rica, and on December 15 and 16 at the Real Intercontinental Hotel in San José.

Two INCAE faculty members, Dr. Esteban R. Brenes and Dr. Octavio Martínez, will serve as co-chairs for the conference. The third co-chair is Dr. Jay Anand from the Ohio State University Fisher School of Business. The event aims to bring together academics and faculty members from top business schools around the world to discuss, learn, and share about management research topics stressing collaborative strategies, new thinking on strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions.

The conference is supported by INCAE's Steve Aronson Chair of Strategy and is expected to be attended by 230 people

from international business schools from all continents including IESE Business School, Harvard Business School, Michigan Business School, Ohio State University, HEC Paris, Fundación Getulio Vargas from Brazil, and Rice University, among others.

The conference allows academics from Costa Rica and Latin America to share their research with the best academics worldwide and provides opportunities to enhance knowledge and improve academic research collaboratively all over the world. In addition, it allows participants to meet other people sharing their research interests and sometimes even to work together. Finally, it offers a unique opportunity to learn about various research topics on general and strategic management stressing strategic collaboration", said Professor Brenes.

A series of workshops for Ph.D. candidates and for Ph.D. recent graduates will be offered on the first day to review and support their research and to facilitate its dissemination. Workshops for young faculty members on career planning and teaching will be also offered. In addition, networking will be encouraged through social activities.

Dr. Pankaj Ghemawat will be lecturing on December 14 about The Reality on Globalization and Business Strategy. Dr. Ghemawat is a well-known academic and a leading business guru worldwide according to the Thinkers 50 ranking. In addition, he is the author of best-selling articles and business case studies worldwide. On December 15-16, participants will attend presentations and will engage in extensive academic discussions about more than 200 pieces of research from around the world.
